General

SelfSight is a screen-time analytics app that helps you understand your digital habits without judgment or restriction. Unlike apps that block content or enforce limits, SelfSight gives you a clear picture of how you spend your time — so you can decide what to change, on your own terms.
SelfSight is in final development. Join the waitlist to be notified the moment we launch on the App Store and Google Play. Waitlist members get early access, a founder badge, and one month of the premium tier free.
SelfSight is for anyone who wants a healthier, more intentional relationship with their phone. Whether you feel like you're scrolling too much, want to focus better at work, or are just curious about where your time actually goes — SelfSight gives you the data without the guilt.

How it works

On iOS, SelfSight uses the Screen Time (Family Controls) API. On Android, it uses UsageStatsManager. Both require your explicit, granular permission — you control exactly what data the app can see. We cannot access anything you haven't explicitly allowed.
Your focus score is a daily metric from 0 to 100 that reflects how closely your actions aligned with your stated intentions. It weighs factors like task completion, time deviation, recovery rate, and consistency. It's not a judgment — it's a data point that helps you spot patterns over time. A score of 60 one day and 85 the next tells a story you can learn from.
An intention is a statement you make when you open SelfSight — what you plan to do and roughly when. For example: "Write the quarterly report between 9 and 11am." SelfSight then tracks whether your device usage matches that plan. It's not about locking you in — it's about creating awareness of the gap between intention and action.
No — by design. SelfSight is an awareness tool, not a restriction tool. Research consistently shows that self-awareness, not forced limits, leads to lasting behaviour change. Most people rebel against restrictions. SelfSight helps you see your habits clearly and lets you decide what to do about them. The change comes from you, not from a block screen.
Each intention has a time window. When that window passes — whether you completed the task or not — the gap between what you planned and what actually happened is logged as context, not failure. There are no alerts, no guilt prompts. The data simply captures the distance between intention and reality, and over time, that awareness drives change more effectively than any notification ever could.

Privacy & security

Absolutely. All screen-time processing happens on your device. We have no servers that receive, store, or process your usage data. Your app-usage history, intentions, notes, and focus scores never leave your phone. The only data we collect is your email address — for waitlist and account purposes — and you can delete it anytime by emailing privacy@selfsight.org.
Your screen-time data, intentions, notes, and focus scores are stored locally on your device in an encrypted database. We cannot read, access, or recover any of it. If you delete the app, that data is gone. If you switch phones, you start fresh. Your email address (if you provide it) is stored securely with our email provider, EmailOctopus, and is subject to their privacy policy.
No. We don't sell data, we don't share data, and we don't monetize data in any form. SelfSight's business model is straightforward: a free tier and an optional premium subscription. That's it. Your attention data is not our product — the app is.
On iOS: Screen Time access (Family Controls framework). On Android: Usage Access permission (UsageStatsManager). Both are opt-in and can be revoked at any time through your device settings. The app also requests standard notification permissions for optional launch reminders — these are entirely optional and can be skipped during onboarding.

Pricing & plans

SelfSight is free to download with a full-featured free tier. The free tier includes daily intentions, focus scoring, weekly trend history, and basic pattern insights. A premium tier with advanced analytics, unlimited history, and deeper pattern analysis will be available as an optional monthly or annual subscription. Final pricing will be announced at launch.
Yes. Everyone gets a 14-day free trial of the premium tier when it launches. Waitlist members get an extended one-month trial. No payment information is required to start the trial, and you won't be charged unless you choose to subscribe after the trial ends.
We're considering a one-time lifetime purchase option and would love to hear if that interests you. Email us at support@selfsight.org — we read every message and factor user feedback into our pricing decisions.

Technical & platforms

iOS and Android will launch simultaneously. We're targeting iOS 17+ and Android 12+ to ensure we can use the latest privacy-preserving APIs. A web dashboard for viewing your data on a larger screen is on the roadmap for a future release — likely 3–6 months after the mobile launch.
At launch, SelfSight will be optimized for iPhone and Android phones. iPad support is planned for the first major update post-launch. The app will run on iPad in compatibility mode, but the layout won't be optimized for the larger screen until the dedicated iPad version ships.
SelfSight is designed to be extremely battery-efficient. It reads data from the OS-level Screen Time / UsageStats APIs rather than running its own background monitoring. This means the battery impact is negligible — comparable to checking a weather app once a day. Our goal is for you to not notice the app is there unless you open it.
Yes. Both the free and premium tiers support exporting your focus scores, trend data, and pattern summaries as CSV files. Premium users can also export weekly PDF reports. Your data belongs to you — you should be able to take it anywhere.

Development & roadmap

We're targeting a public launch in Q3 2026 on both the App Store and Google Play. Join the waitlist to get notified the moment we go live — and to secure early access, a founder badge, and an extended free trial of the premium tier.
We'll be running a closed beta before the public launch. Waitlist members will be the first to receive beta invitations. If you're especially interested in testing, mention it when you join the waitlist or email us at support@selfsight.org — we're always looking for thoughtful feedback.
Our post-launch roadmap includes: a web dashboard for reviewing your data on desktop, family/team insights for shared accountability (opt-in, privacy-preserving), iPad optimization, deeper trend analytics with weekly/monthly/quarterly views, custom intention templates, and integrations with calendar apps to cross-reference your planned vs actual time. We share roadmap updates with waitlist members via email — no spam, just occasional product notes.
