Fair terms for using SelfSight.

1. Agreement and eligibility

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SelfSight app, website, account, support, and related services (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Anna Welin in Sweden ("SelfSight," "we," "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The minimum account age and any parent or guardian agreement depend on the final territory-specific age design and must be confirmed before release. External AI may be unavailable to a user even when local SelfSight features or SelfSight+ are available. You may use the Service only where legally permitted. If you use it for an organization, you represent that you can bind that organization.

2. Accounts, device security, and license

Many local features can work without an account. Sign in is required for certain cloud, support, and insight features. You must provide accurate information, safeguard your device and Apple account, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity through your account except to the extent caused by our breach of duty.

Subject to these Terms and applicable App Store rules, we grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on Apple devices you own or control. You may not copy, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, bypass security or entitlement checks, scrape, interfere with, or create derivative works from the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of intentions, journal entries, support messages, and other content you submit. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, encrypt, transmit, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the features you request. This license ends when the content is deleted from active systems, subject to legal retention and backups.

You must have the right to submit your content. Do not submit unlawful content, malware, another person's sensitive data without authority, or content that infringes rights. Eligible journal content may be included in encrypted sync. If you separately consent to AI-powered insights and are eligible, coarse derived signals—not journal free text, raw timelines, app names, account identifiers, or intention notes—may be used as described in the Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to break the law; harm, threaten, harass, or impersonate others; probe or defeat security; overload the Service; automate access without permission; misuse support; extract models or source code; or use outputs to make high-impact decisions about another person. We may investigate suspected abuse and restrict access where reasonably necessary.

5. Wellness, medical, and AI limitations

SelfSight is a personal awareness and journaling tool. It is not a medical device, healthcare provider, emergency service, diagnosis, treatment, or substitute for professional medical, mental-health, legal, or other advice. Do not disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of the Service. If you may be in danger or experiencing an emergency, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.

Pattern chains, confidence scores, summaries, suggestions, and AI-generated text are probabilistic inferences. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or misleading; correlation does not establish causation. Treat them as prompts for reflection, not facts or instructions. You are responsible for checking outputs and deciding whether to act on them.

External AI is an optional enhancement that requires separate consent and eligibility. SelfSight sends coarse derived signals through its backend only to a commercial provider that has passed the release controls described in the Privacy Policy. No AI provider is a healthcare professional, and all output is subject to the same limitations above.

6. SelfSight+ subscriptions and purchases

SelfSight+ is offered as automatically renewing monthly and annual subscriptions purchased through Apple's App Store. The current price, billing period, trial or introductory offer (if any), and taxes are shown in Apple's purchase sheet before you confirm. Apple charges and manages the transaction under your App Store account and terms. Unless canceled, a subscription renews as disclosed by Apple.

You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account's subscription settings. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Refunds and billing disputes are handled by Apple under applicable law and App Store policies.

Deleting SelfSight, signing out, disabling sync, or deleting a SelfSight account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Paid features may change or stop when an entitlement expires. Restore Purchases can be used for eligible prior purchases. Nothing here limits any cancellation, refund, or consumer right that applicable law does not allow us to limit.

7. Free features, changes, and availability

Feature availability, limits, platform requirements, and cloud providers may change. We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features and may issue updates required for security or compatibility. We will provide notice and remedies where applicable law requires them. Roadmap, beta, and launch statements are plans, not commitments.

The Service may be unavailable because of maintenance, network or provider failures, device restrictions, legal requirements, or events beyond reasonable control. We do not promise uninterrupted, error-free, or permanent availability, or that every inferred insight will be generated. Keep independent copies of information you cannot afford to lose.

8. Third-party services and Apple terms

The Service relies on Apple, Supabase, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, and EmailOctopus for the functions described in the Privacy Policy. An approved commercial AI API provider may be used only for optional AI-powered insights after release requirements are satisfied. Their services and terms may apply independently, and we are not responsible for third-party products beyond the extent required by law. Your use of Apple software and services is also subject to Apple's applicable terms, including the Licensed Application End User License Agreement and App Store rules.

SelfSight also uses third-party and open-source software. Copyright and license terms remain with their respective owners. Required notices should remain available with the distributed app or relevant source package; these Terms do not replace those license texts.

These Terms are between you and the SelfSight operator, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. To the extent any required warranty is not effectively disclaimed, Apple may refund the app purchase price, if any, and has no other warranty obligation to the maximum extent permitted by law. The SelfSight operator, not Apple, is responsible for product claims and intellectual-property claims concerning the app.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce the Apple-related provisions. You represent that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism and are not on a U.S. Government prohibited-party list.

9. Intellectual property and feedback

Except for your content and third-party materials, SelfSight and its licensors own the Service, software, design, trademarks, and related intellectual property. If you voluntarily send product feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or compensation, but we will not identify you publicly without permission.

10. Suspension, termination, and deletion

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may delete local data or, when signed in, use Delete Account in Settings. Account deletion is intended to remove the Supabase account and associated live account records and clear local app data and the device encryption key; limited transaction, fraud-prevention, security, legal, or backup records may remain where permitted. Encrypted cloud data may become unrecoverable. Export any JSON record you need first and cancel any App Store subscription separately.

We may suspend or terminate access for a material or repeated breach, unlawful use, security risk, nonpayment, or where required by law. When reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to cure. Sections that by nature should survive—including ownership, disclaimers, liability, disputes, and accrued obligations—remain effective after termination.

11. Disclaimers, liability, and indemnity

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and quiet enjoyment. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SelfSight and its operator, suppliers, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of profits, goodwill, data, or opportunities; or harm caused by reliance on an inferred pattern or AI output. Our total aggregate liability arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid for SelfSight in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, breach of a non-excludable data-protection duty, or any liability that law does not allow us to limit. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so the limits apply only to the extent lawful.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you will defend and indemnify SelfSight from third-party claims arising from your unlawful misuse of the Service, your infringement of another person's rights, or content you submit in breach of these Terms. This does not apply to claims caused by our own acts or omissions, and it does not reduce non-waivable consumer rights.

12. Governing law, changes, and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes may be brought before the competent courts of Sweden. Regardless of that choice, consumers retain the mandatory protections and courts available under the law of their habitual residence.

Before filing a claim, you and SelfSight agree to try in good faith for 30 days to resolve it by emailing legal@selfsight.org, unless urgent relief or law permits immediate filing. These Terms do not require arbitration and do not waive any right that cannot lawfully be waived.

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest remains effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale, subject to applicable law. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, Apple's applicable terms, and purchase disclosures are the entire agreement about the Service.

We may update these Terms prospectively. We will post the effective date and give additional notice or seek consent where required. Continued use after an effective update constitutes acceptance only where permitted by law.
